Lately I was advertising a List generation program on a Traffic Exchange. I also monitor the number of clicks on the Ad.

After 300 exposures of my splash page Ad their were 5 clicks. So 1 click for every 60 exposures of my Ad equating to 1.6% CTR

For a Text Link Ad I got 6 clicks after 4000 exposures which is 0.15% CTR

For a banner Ad I got 5 clicks after 4000 views which is 0.125% CTR

These were not UVME Ads btw. With the UVME green banner I got 1 click in 1000 exposures.

These figures are OK I think since on a Traffic exchange, people are there to build credits to Advertise their own programs rather than click on Ads.

Credits can be exchanged for impressions of Banners and Text links on the basis of 30 impressions per credit. So if we scale the Banner and Text link percentages up to compare to the clicks on the Splash page we get 4.5% and 3.75% respectively. So it looks like my Splash page is under performing.

I must point out that I did not do proper testing of Ads for just 1 program so there are plenty of variables that could be compared. The purpose of the exercise was to tell if it was worthwhile Advertising on a Traffic Exchange i.e. would I get any clicks at all!

It’s easy for me to accumulate 100 credits per day. This takes less than 20 minutes. So I can convert these to 100 Splash page impressions or 3000 banner/text impressions. Therefore I can expect around 4 visitors to my landing pages per day.

The problem now, is the conversion ratio of the landing page. If it is 25% then I could expect I sale or sign-up per day.

Here is the Traffic Exchange that I use.
