The concept of this is kind of cool since it gives you access to a large pre-built list by randomly assigning your position in the matrix of members every day. So it is a gamble as to how many people you can send an email to each day.

I signed up myself to try it out today. But first I set up a forwarding email so I can easily stop emails being sent and track the emails from this service.

Also, I had to go through 2 stages of high pressure sales pages urging me to upgrade which I resisted. I just clicked the no thanks links in the footer of the page. This seems to have been a good move since paying members were complaining in the forum that they did not get any better results than free members.

So here is another tip: don’t enter your real name when signing up for free. If you want to take advantage of the one-time paid offers later, you can simply sign up again with your real name.

I never liked the idea of “safe lists” since these result in 1000’s of emails to your inbox everyday and the response rate to your emails must be incredibly low. But with the list bandit idea, I don’t see any problem since email will come from the people in a line above you in a matrix. So, even with a deep matrix you should only get a few emails per day. But if you are lucky enough to get positioned high up in the matrix, you can send email to lots of people.

But, matrix’s grow exponentially, so you will most times be close to the bottom of the pile so there will be timing involved to send email to a large group of people. Well, like I said, I only just signed up with this but I like the theory behind it. But I would avoid the paid membership option for now.

Update: I have done some mathematical analysis of the random matrix in List Bandit and found that your chances of being able to email 1,000’s in one hit is very slim indeed. If you join as a free member and don’t refer anyone yourself then most times you will have nobody in your “bandit matrix” to email.

To email 1000’s you have to be on level 3/2/1 in the “bandit matrix”. The chances of this are less than 1 in 3,280 or once every 63 years if you can only email once a week (I am waiting for clarification on this).

But this is over-optimistic, I don’t know the exact figure since there is an unpublished skew to favor paid members and people who made referrals which is fair enough but I want to make you aware of the realities of life here.

So I would not expect great results from the random matrix but it is a novel way to promote this system to build your downline in your personal matrix. The only snag there though is that you will get emailed by the paying members since they can mail up and down the matrices.

The way to work this system seems to be to get the downline growing and find ways to extract them to your own external list. A mod on the forums was strongly recommending this approach. I guess he felt safe to do so since less than 1% of members post to the forum. So these are the people to reveal the secrets to, the active ones who will drive business forward and be life long fans for future projects.
