The Problem with Traffic Exchanges
At first encounter, a Traffic Exchange seems like a great place to advertise a Business Opportunity since you will get people involved in Network Marketing seeing your Ad.
But there are problems such as:
- Everyone else wants you to join their opportunity
- Your Ad has to be fast loading and deliver a very appealing reason to click on it
- You can’t easily measure how well your Ad performs
- It is tedious to accumulate free credits
So how can we make the most of Traffic Exchanges?
We can’t do much about the fact that everyone wants you to join their opportunity except maybe offer tools to help them grow their current business. Otherwise we are looking for the people about to quit what they are involved with now after struggling to succeed with it. So we can word our Ad to target those people.
A common tactic is to use a phase containing “Finally discover how to…” do whatever. This implies that at last there is a way forward to achieve what they were looking to do before but never got the solution. Then back up the claim with something from your experience of getting over the hurdle.
This leads us to the second point in my list. We are making our Ad appealing to click on with an attention grabbing headline. For it to be fast loading it will be either a splash page (small graphical image or a very short sales message. These will have a “most wanted response” to get our prospect to click our link to find out more. This link could then go to your uVme affiliate page which would open in a new window.
The problem with measuring how well your Ad performs is that Traffic Exchanges can’t tell you how many clicks you had on your link in your Ad page. So you need to include tracking code on your page. This is what I do but it is a custom coded solution. Ideally, our Business Opportunity company should be providing this data for us so we can tell which Ads work and which don’t.
A measure of performance is CTR (Click-Through-Ratio) which is how many clicks you get for every 1000 impressions of your Ad. A good CTR in percentage terms is 5%. My standard uVme banner Ad got 1 click after 1000 impressions which is poor! A way to improve this may be to have a banner that is different to everybody else’s, but then you need to find what works over time.
Splash pages are the way to go for page Ads. This advice comes from the owner of a Traffic Exchange.
To get over the tedium of accumulating credits, you need to pay for a pro membership so you get a 1:1 surf ratio and free monthly credits. Also the surf timer is often set to a shorter time. You can read about my preferred Traffic Exchange here.
